No new arrivals through the night, a good thing as it was cold but no wind....thank goodness. Went to do chores this morning, barn one I found a cow with her water broke.....will move on with a watchful eye. Barn two I met a little calf as I turned in to shut off lights. Too many momma's in the barn so she followed the one who was paying the most attention and that was me. She followed me and momma followed her right into the pen. I wish all were that easy. Check back to peek in barn one, she's not settling like she should but moved on to finish chores. Half hour later the momma cow just acting funny so put her in calving pen......got the pulling gear, put on the shoulder gloves. Could of used a body suit, the little gal had her passenger front like caught and momma couldn't push her out. As I push the calf back down and tried to pull the leg up, momma pushed back to get her out. Ouch....the pressure gets a little unbearable, it feels like your hand or wrist is going to break. I'm pushing, she's pushing... I'm not giving up as my hair is in my face, my stocking hat is sliding as I'm bundle with a hoodie and scarf......... cover with fluids from head to toe. I ask her politely to just work with me.....finally with patience I GOT IT. Chains on the legs and jacked away ....the head popped then jacked some more then ran out of cable. Got second set on chains on, by this time I was getting stressed as things weren't going well for me. The baby calf was looking at me, would you hurry up already I'm hanging here so I yelled just keep pushing momma and the calf dropped. Now that's teamwork! Mom and baby are doing fine.
