As a cattle person, you prepare yourself mentally to work long hours and get yourself up every four hours at night to check your cows. Now that Mother nature has extended the winter here in Iowa to break lows the next ten days is truly testing those of us who work to feed America. Now adding fighting the snow, cold and wind....getting up every two hours to check cows and get those babies to a heated barn. To then get them back to their mother the next morning. A person could just cry and/or scream but most folks don't care because they don't know or understand the life of a cattle person. My hourly rate just decrease by half.
